Morning Glory
I have two batches of Morning Glory in the garden. One is climbing right above the entrance door and the other is by the fence. The one by the door needs a bigger container and I should use trellis next time, as all I did this year was putting some thin ropes in between the container and the top. They did climb up very nicely but they are too dense and many new sprouts and flowers couldn't grow. Anyway, they are beautiful in the morning!

Albizia julibrissin, mimosa, Persian silk tree
This tiny tree is about 20 cm tall and have survived a tough winter outside. We have a large Albizia tree that doesn't do too well and last year I have planted lots of seeds into pots. Took them inside for the winter, nevertheless, only two survived from a dozen. This is why I am surprised; everywhere I read that this type of tree can't handle frost in the first two or three years of its life, yet this one is doing absolutely fab in the shade of some irises. Nature's wonders!
Plan for today is garden time: seeding beans and planting cucmber and beetroot and I seriously have to start learning Spanish again.

Elderflower syrup
Elderflower syrup in the making.
Easy, tasty, great in hot weather and smells wonderfully. All you need is
- lots of elderflowers
- sugar or sweetener
- lemon or lemon essence
- water
- lot's of patience (3-4 days of waiting)
Put everything in a bowl or jar, mix every day, water it up to taste. Yumm.

Red Roses are for Wednesday
My mom loved roses. We moved to this house sixteen years ago and she planted lots of roses bu this is the only one still alive. The soil wasn't proper, there were pests around; this is the only plant that have survived. My mom passed away three years ago and it became important for me to keep this rose. Last year it only had two blooms, this year it's doing better, carrying four buds already.

Yellow is love
While sipping coffee this morning, I walked around in the garden. Although these flowers are considered to be weeds, I find them lovely. The buttercups are right under the wisteria, the others are on an empty part of the garden that I just call meadow (although it is quite small.) We haven't cultivated that part of the garden for years and flowers and plants have taken it over. Still, there's a lot of beauty in the wild. :) I still need to look up the names of these yellow beauties!

Sempervivum tectorum
Planted them last summer in three bigger groups; all have several tiny spawns this year. I have loved them ever since I was a child. I think we were around 8 or 9 years old when we made a trip to the botanic garden and I brought some sempervivum home for my mom. They did survive for years in the flat.

Black locust
The weather turned to quite chilly compared to last week's 30 degress. I'm only hoping the seedlings will be okay.
There's a black locust tree just by my window which has produced many beautiful flowers despite it's quite young. Will do more shots when there's a bit of sun.

Tomato & pepper
Pepper
Tomato
I have a feeling I overdid on tomato seeding & seedlings. So many of them everywhere in pots on my patio. Carrying the potted garden back and forth between the house and outside is way too exhausting. I'll just play survival of the fittest... I have also put my house plants outside (except for some that doesn't take direct sun too well) and the forecast says next week there's a cold front...let's hope it doesn't go below 12 degrees Celsius!

Orange seedling is coming out
Begonia (Begonia semperflorens) - that I have saved from last year, now without flowers

Glorious summertime
It is actually spring, but we're having summertime here in Hungary. Thirty degrees Celsius. Perfection! I'm sure it'll be 15-20 degrees again in no time but right now I am enjoying my days off in the garden. Well, I'm enjoying it for a couple of hours then I take cover in the coolness of my room.
Last year I have started a garden project only with a very few plants: this year I want to take it further and grow vegetables too, not only flowers. So, I have a small patio full of tomato and pepper seedlings and I have seeded some other veggies too. Alhtough the garden is quite big, it hasn't been cultivated for a good 10 years. Consequently, grass and weeds are growing everywhere. Some trees and plants do survive, but to dig up the whole garden is out of the question (would take weeks with a spade) and I'd have to supply a new layer of soil. Oh, have I mentioned I have pets as well? The cats and the dog love roaming around and dig here and there. So, it's simply easier to plant everything in containers. I'm planning to document the success (and failures) here to make it easier to keep track of everything.
Wisteria
The Wisteria is blooming nicely, not taking care of it actually did good to this plant. Next autumn I'll have to prune it and I need to find support for it as it is growing alongside our neighbor's house on the ground.
One of my favorites is the Columbine. It has chosen an impossible place to germinate: it's growing close to our house from a creek in the concrete. I noticed it three years ago when it was booming. Last year I collected a lot of seed from it and planted them, they've grown into nice bushes. It seems this year they won't have any flowers.
